My first attempt at cloth doll making. I have been wanting to make a doll for years and now that it's summer I finaly have the time. I came up with the idea from looking at books and wanting there to be more dolls in action. Now I am designing and sewing an entire goddess series, the next will be a Sun Goddess.
The pattern for the actual doll body is from the book 'Creative Cloth Doll Making' by Patti Medaris Culea, the moon and the stars I created. The body was made out of a pale fabric with sparkley sheer over it (the sheer was left over from my prom dress ) and the moon and stars froma beautiful music note fabric my mom bought for another project. Her face was soft-sculpted and drawn with black marker, colored pencils, and white acryllic paint. The hair is black wool roving. I didn't really want to give her any clothing because her body is so beautiful I didn't want to cover it up, so I made a sort of scarf. It is stary fabric covered with black sheer to give it a night-sky look. I put steel wire inside to have some movement in the piece. Then I added some ribbon because my mother thought she wasn't covered enough -_-
I really do love her to pieces and would greatly appreciate comments/criticism on her.

She is lovely! I am a big fan. The only thing I would tweak a little is her right foot. I think with it a little more arched and pointed it would help to continue the line and carry on the graceful feeling of the piece. It's not an important change- but I just thought i would tell you what I thought. The piece is amazing as is!
Thank you very much! Yes, I noticed the problem with the foot. I'm not sure I can change it on her but I'm going to alter the pattern on the rest of the dolls I make.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
