In the corner sits a little girl.
Her eyes stare at nothing,
She is broken and alone.
Her skin has eroded away
Golden gears and springs
Lost in darkness.
Cobwebs encompass her
Cracked clockwork body.
The slightest tick echoes
Around her empty shell,
Reminding her every second
That she is abandoned
By the only one she loves.
For the first time
In a thousand years
She sees a light.
The door at the top
Of the stairs opens.
Her dead eyes flicker
Whirring breath
Creaking joints
She tries to move
But rust holds her back
And the door closes
Leaving her with only shadows.
Settling back into her lifeless space
She listens to the quiet ticks
Relentless and unforgiving.
